Most of the time, men lack awareness of what would be best for them. Sony Pictures Classics has released the official teaser for Sophie Brooks’s unusual and awkward independent comedy Oh, Hi! Oh, Hi! is the second fun full-length movie Sophie Brooks produced. Following its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in 2025, this short film is currently showing at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City during the current year’s summer. Though I could classify it as a romantic comedy, I wouldn’t describe the film as particularly romantic since it primarily examines the turbulent events that follow when this young woman discovers her partner is not interested in her.
The first romantic weekend trip Iris and Isaac go on is ruined by bad luck. When he told her their relationship was merely situational, she freaked out. Iris goes to extraordinary measures to persuade him he is meant to be with her since she thinks he is just confused and unsure of what he wants. She locks him in to achieve this. John Reynolds and Geraldine Viswanathan play their two friends; Molly Gordon and Logan Lerman play Iris and Isaac. The movie at Sundance did not appeal to me especially. Still, for a lot of other people, this should be interesting.

Once you have found a suitable one, you ought to lock it. Of the men Iris has come across, Isaac is the best one. Apart from being cute, friendly, and funny, he is the one who has booked their first romantic vacation together—a charming cottage surrounded by gorgeous surroundings. One could wonder what might go wrong. All seems to be in order. This clever and endearingly odd dark comedy transports us through the highs and lows of contemporary dating in progressively ridiculous yet somewhat relevant ways. This is a funny comedy with a clever and unusual approach. Molly Gordon’s Iris character is resolved to do whatever it takes to persuade Logan Lerman’s Isaac that she and him are meant to be together.
Apart from guiding multiple short films and The Boy Downstairs (2017), American independent filmmaker Sophie Brooks is the writer and director of Oh, Hi!, her second feature film. Julie Waters, Dan Clifton, and David Brooks handled the project as producers. The film debuted to the public at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. Written by Sophie Brooks, the comedy Oh, Hi! It will premiere by Sony Pictures Classics in a small number of theatres all around the United States on July 25, 2025. Is it sufficient for you?
